YOM YERUSHALAYIM 2004

The Bialystoker Synagogue celebrated Yom Yerushalayim with the 2nd annual Boruch Mandelkern Memorial Lecture given by Rabbi Meir Goldwicht, Rosh Yeshiva at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.

Rabbi Goldwicht spoke movingly about the eternal connection between Hebron and Jerusalem and recounted some of his own memories about the tense days leading up to the Six Day War in 1967 and the euphoric days that followed.

Rabbi Goldwicht is a popular lecturer in the greater New York area who also flies to Israel once a month to give whirlwind lectures throughout the country.  He has also spoken on Israeli radio.

We acknowledged the presence of Boruch Mandelkern's widow, Bertha, his daughter, Mrs. Rosa Silver, and grandchildren Edward Silver and Ben Fried.

Light refreshments followed the lecture.
